Great place to camp. Once in you don't even realize you are in the city. In August the lakes were nearly impossible to fish from the shore line because of over growth. They also lock the gates real early so any guests have to get out by 9pm. Great time and much to do.
Beautiful forest preserve with trails, archery area, many shelters and benches for picnic. They have pretty good size lake were u can rent kayak and boat from memorial day to labor day. September renting for kayak is only on weekends. One can bring there own kayak n boat to ride. Fishing in lake is allowed. For winter there is snow slide ..which look pretty long .
Nice place. I've been there for a picnic, hike, practicing archery, with my canoe and my small sailboats . Great place to learn to sail...especially if you can benefit from practicing turning around (gybing or tacking) and sailing in swirly winds. Don't bring a boat with much draft because the shallow parts will snag your daggerboard. The concrete launching ramp means rigging on a soft beach isn't going to happen.
It's a really clean and large space. Perfect for family outings and gatherings. It's just hard to maneuver around the park if you've never been there.
A beautiful forest preserve. Well maintained with excellent facilities. We used one of the shelters for a family gathering. There were plenty of parking spaces, working flush toilet facilities nearby, and beautiful views of the lake.
Camp grounds are available.
